The national jersey is the greatest pride
Ömer Onan stated that he experienced the greatest happiness in his career while playing for the National Team and that wearing the crescent-star jersey is one of the greatest prides he can experience and said, ‘Fortunately, we also won medals with the National Team. It was great fun to be part of the squad at the 2010 World Championship. On an individual level, it was very enjoyable to play with our President Hidayet Türkoğlu, with whom we still serve at the Turkish Basketball Federation. “He also had a very important role in all the great successes achieved,” he said.

Sharing that they were very excited about the facility built instead of Abdi İpekçi Sports Hall, Ömer Onan said, “Everyone knows very well the desire and determination of our President Hidayet Türkoğlu on this issue. Thanks to our state leaders, they also gave us great support. Our esteemed President and ministers personally visited and examined the works on site. In a short time, Turkish Basketball will have a facility that it desperately needs. “The importance of this facility will be better understood in the coming years, as matches are played, camps are held, and all parents meet there for youth matches,” he said.

Evaluating the results obtained in the World Cup Qualifiers hosted by Turkey, Onan said, “Unfortunately, we had shortcomings. We could not use our devshirmes other than Cedi Osman. However, of course, these should not be excuses in an organization we host. We really wanted to pass the qualifications and for this team to go to the Olympics, but we couldn’t.
