Netherlands play away game in Ireland

The Netherlands stayed on their way to the European Football Championship finals in Germany with their third win in their fourth group game. “Oranje” won 2-1 (1-1) against Ireland after an early deficit in Dublin on Sunday evening.

Behind the confidently acting French – the runner-up world champion has the maximum points after five games – the Dutch defended second place in Group B ahead of Greece, who confidently completed the task against Gibraltar with a 5-0 (2-0) home win.

Ireland take the lead with a penalty

The game got off to a very bad start for the Dutch: Virgil van Dijk took a penalty shortly after the start, and Adam Idah (5th) took advantage. The guests also equalized from the penalty spot.

Cody Gakpo (19th) didn’t miss the chance after Denzel Dumphries was brought off his feet by the Irish goalkeeper. The offensive efforts of Ronald Koeman’s stronger team were finally rewarded. Wout Weghorst (56th), who came on after the break, capitalized on Dumphries’ preparatory work.

Poland has to worry about its European Championship ticket

Poland, on the other hand, has to worry about the start of the European Championship. Robert Lewandowski and Co. lost 0-2 (0-1) in Albania and suffered their third defeat in their fifth qualifying appearance. Jasir Asani (37th) and Mirlind Daku (62nd) scored for the Albanians, who are ahead in Group E. Behind them are the Czech Republic and Moldova, ahead of the fourth-placed Poles. The Moldovans, who had managed a 1-1 draw against the ÖFB team in Linz on Thursday, won 1-0 (0-0) in the Faroe Islands.
