“At times, I would also talk to each referee about their notes in a hotel room. Negreira had a lot of power in the CTA and ran the day-to-day life of the members. I had access to all documents, reports and grades included. He controlled everything,” they add.

The same thing happened with the coaching of Negreira’s son, Javier Enríquez, the referees were forced to hire his services and check out. “You had to go through the bar and be seen, it was very important.”

“’La Torrada’ was a very seedy and small neighborhood bar, which we ironically called the ‘Txistu of Barcelona’. As soon as you entered there was a bar to the left and at the back an interior patio with camping tables and chairs. During the week there was a menu, but when we went they gave us meat and sliced ​​serrano ham from the supermarket, freshly taken out of the envelope, it was embarrassing. When we went to “La Torrada” we had many conversations with Negreira related to football and refereeing in a very casual atmosphere..
