Myles Turner Determined to Participate in Next Season’s All-Star Game as a Representative of the Pacers

Next season’s All-Star Weekend will be held in Indianapolis, and one of the hosts has already “reserved” a spot at the All-Star Game. Myles Turnercenter for the Pacers, said he was determined to participate in the game of stars to represent his team. Podcast guest Run your Race, Turner said:

“Obviously I’m very excited for the next All-Star Game. Indiana will be played this season. You will see me on the pitch, for sure. You hear it from me now. But to have this event in the city where I play, and to have the best of the league itself all gathered in Indy, is a truly fantastic thing.”

Myles Turner has been in the NBA since 2015, and has always played with the Indiana Pacers, who chose him with the eleventh call. His path in the league has been one of continuous improvement, and Turner is now one of the most reliable big men in the league. He is good in both halves of the pitch, but he is at his best in the protection of the painting, so much so that he was the best shot blocker in the NBA for two seasons. Last season at Indiana he played 62 games, and finished the season averaging 18 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks.

Despite his good performances, he never made it to the All-Star Game. The fact of playing in a team like Indiana, which has little following and few games broadcast live nationally, is perhaps a factor that played a role. However, Turner cares a lot about the Pacers, so much so that he said:

“I want to prove so many people wrong. It’s hard to show off when you play in the Midwest. We usually have one game a year live nationally, and then no one really watches us until the Playoffs start. So I want to push as many people as possible to believe in us, because we will be a good team this season.”

With the arrival of Haliburton the team has already improved, and next season an All-Star level Turner could bring great benefits to the Pacers, who expect to return to the Playoffs after a three-year absence.
