Mason Greenwood Set to Return in Football Manager After Year-Long Absence

Mason Greenwood will be reinstated in the Football Manager video game after more than a year of his removal. The information was revealed today (7) by The Sun newspaper.

What happened

He will be returned to the game after being officially announced by Getafe. The Spanish club signed the striker last Friday.

The player was removed from the game after being accused of attempted rape in 2022 while playing for United. The charges were dropped in February of this year.

Manchester United announced in August that they had “mutually agreed” to the player’s departure. He has not been on the field since his arrest in January last year.

Getafe’s next game will be at home against Osasuna on September 17th. Greenwood is unlikely to take the field due to lack of fitness.

In a press release at the time of removing the player, Sports Interactive, responsible for Football Manager said:

“Players or managers serving indefinite suspensions from football for any reason are removed from Football Manager at the earliest opportunity.

Despite the confirmation, the company did not say whether the player will be reinstated in the game in an upcoming update or just in the next version of the game.
