Lisbon takes over from Barcelona as the start of the Vuelta

Lisbon will take over from Barcelona as the starting point of the Vuelta. The Portuguese capital will host the start of the Spanish round next year, just as Barcelona did on August 26 with a time trial that was unfortunately overshadowed by rain. Three stages will be held in Portuguese territory before the test heads surely towards Extremadura. This was confirmed this Sunday Javier Guillénrace director, before the start of the last stage of the race that has already been decided in favor of the American runner Sepp kiss.

It will be the second time that Lisbon hosts the premiere of the Vuelta. He already did it in 1997, in an edition that ended with the final victory of the Swiss cyclist Alex Zülle. At the moment, little else is known about the next edition of the Vuelta which, predictably, will pass through some autonomous communities that have been left out of the Spanish round this year. Thus, everything seems to indicate that the race will be held, outside of Portugal, on Extremaduran, Andalusian, Castilian-Leonese, Galician and Riojan roads. What is clear is that in 2024 the race will not go through Cataloniasimply for logistical reasons, after in 2023 the test contested the first four stages in collaboration with Andorra.

The Portuguese tour

In the second stage, the platoon will start from Cascais and, heading north, he will head to the city of Ourem. The third stage of La Vuelta 24 through Portuguese territory will take place between the cities of Blackboard y Branco Castle.
