On Wednesday, the national coach scheduled a closed-door test (3 x 12 minutes) against the DFB U20s, which they won 4-0.
BILD observed the secret action in the small Wolfsburg “AOK Stadium” next to the arena, which was aimed at one player in particular: Joshua Kimmich (28).
In the test, Kimmich went back from his regular place in midfield to the position in which he started his international career. As the right man in the back four! As was the case at the 2016 European Championships and at the 2018 World Cup. However, when he was in possession of the ball, he kept attacking.

It seems clear: If Kimmich should play right back against Japan and France, he will also have to do it at the home European Championship in 2024.
