Inbee Park said, “The Olympics are an important event that realizes global peace and friendship,” and “It is a competition that can realize the unified power of sports.” Chairman Ban encouraged, “I hope that Inbee Park will become a support for our country’s sports diplomacy.” Chairman Cho also said, “I actively sympathize with Inbee Park’s movement to spread the Olympic legacy. Going forward, let’s work together with the corporation to educate on Olympic values ​​and spread sports values.”

Inbee Park was selected as a final candidate for the IOC Korean Athletes’ Commission on the 14th of last month. He won competitions with Jin Jong-oh (shooting), Kim Yeon-kyung (volleyball), Lee Dae-hoon (taekwondo), and Kim So-young (badminton). The IOC reviews candidates recommended by each country and selects the final athlete member candidates. The election of IOC athlete members is a direct vote of athletes participating in the Olympics. To become a member of the IOC Athletes’ Committee, you must be among the top four in voting for the Paris Olympics, which will close on August 11 next year.
