Ibizan Badminton Shines on International Stage at Slovenia Junior International

Ibizan badminton continues to shine on the international scene, showing that it has a promising future. This weekend they have won three medals at the Slovenia Junior International. The doubles of Macarena Izquierdo – Carmen Jiménez; and Adolfo López – Carmen Jiménez climbed to the second step of the podium, while Macarena Izquierdo took bronze in the individual event.

Izquierdo reached the semifinals, where the first favorite, the Croatian Jelena Buchberger, defeated the young Ibizan in a very close match that was decided with a score of 21-16 and 21-19.
Ramón Rovira also participated in the individual category, losing in the round of 16 to the Hungarian Milan Mesterhazy (21-13 and 21-15). The brothers Joan and Marc Guasch have fallen in the round of 32 against the Hungarian Balazs Csernyanszki (21-14 and 22-20) and the Belgian Antoine Voisin (21-19 and 21-10).

In doubles, Izquierdo, partnering with Carmen Jiménez, entered the semifinal round without having to play. Already in the fight for the medals they surpassed the Austrian couple to see their faces in the final with the great favorites, the Czechs Kateřina Koliášov and Kateřina Osladilová, (21-12 and 21-17).
Jiménez would also return to the podium in the mixed doubles, where he was paired with the Asturian Adolfo López. Both shone until they reached a final in which once again the Czechs were executioners. Patrik Hrazdíra and Kateřina Osladilová took the gold in a very even duel (21-15, 19-21 and 13-21).
