After the great success of the 2022 edition, which saw the Olbia Sports Center win the team trophy, we are ready to experience another exciting edition of the Trofeo Italia Sardinia Judo Trophy.
The event is held in Olbia on 23 and 24 September 2023 at the Geovillage sports hall and is dedicated exclusively to the rookie category. This prestigious event, which represents the third stage of the Trofeo Italia circuit, is organized with the support of the Regional Department of Tourism, Commerce and Crafts, the Regional Department of Sport, Culture and Public Education and the Municipality of Olbia.
At a national level, the Trofeo Italia is an event of great importance for young athletes, as it helps to determine the national ranking of Italy’s most talented rookies and offers the opportunity to qualify for the national championships.
Enthusiasm is running high, with an impressive number of around 320 athletes battling it out for titles in different categories at the Geovillage. Another notable fact is the presence of 116 companies from 18 Italian regions, demonstrating the exceptional involvement in this competition.
“I am particularly happy with this extraordinary participation – declares Efisio Mele, 5th Dan, master of the Olbia Sports Center – this is an absolute record for our land especially considering the historical moment we are experiencing, given that during the pandemic period the number of athletes in Italy practically halved”.
The FIJLKAM (Italian Federation of Judo Wrestling Karate Martial Arts) will be represented in Olbia by important figures, including the vice president of the judo sector, Giuseppe Matera and some federal councilors, then present were the president of the national competition organization commission and the president of the national competition officials commission.
The competitions begin on Saturday 23rd at 9.30am with the men’s competitions, followed by the women’s competitions on Sunday 24th at 9.00am. The Italia Sardinia Trophy is open to the public, with free entry, and invites all fans to experience this extraordinary demonstration of talent and dedication in the world of judo up close.
