Germany in Search of Successor to Sacked Manager Flick: Nagelsmann and Van Gaal Top Candidates

VIVA – Rudi Voeller was the man in the hot seat alongside Sandro Wagner and Hannes Wolf for Germany’s shock 2-1 win over France in Dortmund on Tuesday night.

The result comes just a day after former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick was sacked by the DFB after winning just 4 of his last 17 games in all competitions for Die Mannschaft.

Currently, Veller has confirmed that he does not want to continue as manager of the German national team and he also said the DFB plans to have an official successor to Flick by the time the next international break begins next month.

Based on information from Sky Sort journalist Florian Plettenberg, former Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann is still the main candidate to replace Flick, although no concrete negotiations have been carried out.

Initially, there were concerns that Bayern would not be willing to let their former manager go to the DFB at a discount as he was technically still under contract with them.

Finally, Voeller also wants Wolf and Wagner to remain assistants for the national team, regardless of who is chosen as Flick’s successor.

But now that doesn’t happen. They will not ask for the full amount from the DFB to release him from his contract at Bayern.

For Bayern and the Dutch national team manager Louis van Gaal is also a name still on the German team’s roster and he did not keep his mouth shut when asked about his potential chances.

The former Manchester United manager stated that he no longer had the desire to take on a managerial role at a club.

But a “vibrant and promising” country might tempt him. Whether it’s Germany or not remains to be seen, but he is the current option.

There are several options available for the DFB, but a decision is not expected to be taken soon, as there is only about a month until the next international break when Germany will face the United States and Mexico in North America.
