Gabriel Heinze Opens Up About Struggles as Coach: ‘I’m Very Bad’

Having played for many clubs as a player, including PSG and OM, Gabriel Heinze (45) is now leading a coaching career. The Argentinian manages Newell’s Old Boys domestically. His team also lost 1-0 on Sunday against Estudiantes in the League Cup. After this setback, Heinze gave a rather surprising speech to the press.

“This moment is fleeting, it is a reality. I have no other way to cope, because he is part of my life. I have experienced this several times. I get through it with work, dedication and effort. I’m very bad as a coach, but I’m very good at other things, in terms of work, commitment, giving everything for this institution. On the other hand, as a coach I am very bad.” Quite a radical self-criticism.
