Forlì-Cesena rises in the ranking drawn up by PtsClas for Il Sole 24 Ore and which takes into account the sportsmanship index of the Italian provinces. The survey, now in its 17th edition, calculated on 32 indicators divided into four categories, rewards Trento, which rose to the virtual top step of the podium ahead of Trieste and Cremona. Major events, registered athletes and sports clubs, results (individual and team), Paralympic sport, investments, sports tourism and training schools are the numbers on Italian sport in the rankings developed. Forlì-Cesena placed 53rd, climbing two positions compared to the 2022 result.
In the “sports structure” chapter, Forlì-Cesena is thirtieth, with particular relevance for the item ‘Sports promotion bodies’ (Società Csi, Libertas, Uisp, Aics, Csen, Acsi – 2022) where it is second, while it is only 57th for ” sports practicability rate”. Twenty-first place in the item “investments in sport” through financing (public and private) of Pnrr projects.
As regards the “team sports” category, it is 46th, with amateur football Serie D and Eccellenza in 28th place for the number of participations and results 22-23, two steps above basketball, while it is 25th for the number of teams present in the territory in locations other than the capital. The province is in the top ten for the results achieved in the motorsport field, with an excellent eighth position, while in the overall ranking dedicated to ‘individual sports’ it is 67th (the 73rd place of the results of indoor sports, including gymnastics, judo and fencing, and 76th in the winter ones).
The last category of the survey is dedicated to “sport and society”, with 39th place (12th position in the “sport and amateurs” item and 14th in “sport and history”). Looking at the provincial capitals of Emilia-Romagna, the ranking sees Bologna in eighth place, Rimini in 17th, Modena in 24th, Piacenza in 29th ahead of Reggio Emilia, Parma 34th, Ravenna 39th and Ferrara 56th.
