Five Burning Questions for the NFL Season: Playoffs, Rookie Quarterbacks, and More

After a long winter, September is here to warm our hearts and bring the NFL back. It’s also the time to see if the predictions and analysis of the preseason games will come true – or will fall apart. That said: we separate five questions that are still open, but will have their answers written from now on.

Os Lions dominarão a NFC North?

Aaron Rodgers left the crown of king of the division and went to be a prince in New York, just like the Eddie Murphy movie. With Packers and Bears having doubts about their quarterbacks, not to mention the Vikings’ unreliable defense, the Lions become, in the view of some, the favorites for the NFC North. However, there are questions to be answered: will the defense level up? Can you trust Goff under pressure? Will the suspensions of Jameson Williams and other players have an impact? The answers to all this will begin to be drawn on Thursday, in the season’s kickoff against the Chiefs.

Who will make the playoffs in the AFC?

For the last three years, the level of competition in the American Conference has been rising by the blink of an eye. Virtually every division has at least one elite or high caliber QB: Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Rodgers, Herbert, Lamar, and Trevor Lawrence. There are still teams that can make a leap, like the Dolphins – if Tua Tagovailoa gets healthy – or the Broncos, with Sean Payton at the helm. However, there are only seven spots left and not all of those teams make it to the postseason. Any slip in this AFC can be lethal, which makes the fight for the playoffs even more exciting.

Is the NFC South really the worst division in the league?

The answer seems obvious, but there is one point that goes unnoticed: with the exception of the East and AFC North divisions, for example, the southern side of the Conference National is perhaps the most unpredictable division in the league right now. All four teams have their problems, some more so than others. Whoever gets more than three head-to-head wins will be consecrated, quite possibly, the NFC South champion. The question here is who will be the lucky one: Falcons, Panthers or Saints (or Bucs via divine intervention)? Make your bets.

How will the rookie quarterbacks behave?

One of the highlights of the preseason was watching the first games of the quarterbacks chosen in the last draft: in particular the trio of Bryce Young, CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson. The first three picks in the first round didn’t do badly, but they saw what they should find when they enter the field for real: Stroud and Young suffering with their offensive lines, while Richardson showing ups and downs, but with a very high evolution ceiling. With a welcome surprise in the form of Aidan O’Connell, a fourth-round rookie for the Raiders, the 2023 rookie quarterbacks took an important first step toward debuting in the league.

The debut of Vai Dar Dating edition Caleb Williams

In case you didn’t follow college, I’ll give you a brief summary now: Caleb Williams is on track today to be the best quarterback prospect since Trevor Lawrence. Potential first pick in the Class of 2024, expect some teams going to great lengths – or humbling themselves – for the chance to select him. Certain franchises are already gearing up for the first pick race (hello, Bucs and Cardinals), but other contenders could enter as well. As the year progresses, we will know which teams will be closer to the not today, faro and which one will say today Yes – and we, lovers of the oval ball, will be the sound designer for the Go Dating.
