Next setback for Manuel Neuer

Manuel Neuer should start FC Bayern team training this week. That’s what coach Thomas Tuchel announced. But nothing will come of it for the time being. The 37-year-old “actually doesn’t really have an injury,” said Tuchel.
Thomas Tuchel has left it open whether he will use the unequal showdown in the DFB Cup against Preußen Münster to make a big rotation. However, the FC Bayern coach promised Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who impressed in the 7-0 win against VfL Bochum, a return to the starting line-up.
The cup first round game this Tuesday evening (8:45 p.m./sports ticker WELT) is the perfect opportunity for Tuchel to distribute the load in view of Munich’s full program. “The English weeks are just starting now,” said Tuchel. This weekend his team will continue with the exciting Bundesliga task at RB Leipzig. Next week is the away game in the Champions League against FC Copenhagen.
Meanwhile, Tuchel also revealed that the new Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz should make his competitive debut for Munich at the Preußenstadion. Ideally, the Israeli should one day succeed Manuel Neuer as number one at Bayern. Tuchel explained why he is giving Sven Ulreich, Neuer’s current replacement and Bayern’s number one, a break. “I’m used to it from abroad that the goalkeeper gets the chance in the cup. It only has advantages. Daniel has a lot of potential for the future, he deserves it,” he said.
Neuer only trains on the next court
When Neuer himself will play in a game for Bayern again is anyone’s guess. His return has been postponed again after the broken leg in December. The 37-year-old was originally supposed to make his comeback to team training this week.

Tuchel had announced on September 14th: “He was already very far along, now the plan is for him to start goalkeeping training again next week and then make the next attempt to be back in team training the week after next.”

However, Neuer was not there at the first team training session of the week on Monday afternoon. However, according to a report from BILD, he “at least trained a tough session on the next pitch. First with his colleagues Peretz and U19 keeper Max Schmitt, when they went over for the final game, Neuer continued with goalkeeper coach Michaelrechner.” Accordingly, he mainly practiced long shots.
On Sunday, Neuer was in a good mood at Bayern’s Oktoberfest visit and gave a rare glimpse of his problem leg. The leg was secured with an adhesive bandage below the knee.

Tuchel explained at the end of last week why there is currently a delay again. The injury was “actually not really an injury. There are more complaints. That’s what I would call it. Calf complaints”. They are “very diffuse, they come and go sometimes”. That doesn’t really have anything to do with jumping technique or muscle contraction. “But they are simply there and are a nuisance.” So it seems as if Bayern and Neuer need more patience than expected.
