Eighth Central American Youth Games Kick Off in Nicaragua

He Nicaraguan Sports Institute, together with the Ministry of Education; inaugurated this Friday, the eighth Central American Youth Games, in the intermediate level modality, which is for children of 13 and 14 years; in the disciplines of judo, wrestling, karate and taekwondo.

In these Central American games, more than 800 children coming from Honduras, Panama and the host country, Nicaragua.

Marlon Torres, co-director of the IND, stated that “this is an event organized by the Council of the Central American Isthmus of Sports and Recreation, which is an organ of the Central American Integration System; founded 31 years ago, and these games are celebrating their birthday this year. 27 birthday. “These events have served to integrate and promote peace in our towns and governments.”

The competitions of this event will take place throughout the weekend, at the España Sports Center; Judo and wrestling, and in the IND: karate and taekwondo.

Keneth Cisneros, Honduran athlete in the judo discipline, stated that; «It is a great joy to be able to leave the country and represent my nation. I come ready to give everything, to win if possible; If not, well, it couldn’t be done, but with all our efforts.

Something similar was stated by Dessire Frías, a Panamanian athlete in the karate discipline; «I feel quite happy to be here and to be able to represent my country. They are my first youth games. I also want to thank the Ministry of Education and to my school for supporting me and making this possible.

The Nicaraguan athlete Krismel Hernandez, from the discipline of taekwondo; thanked the Government for the support provided to make these games possible; «My expectations are to do my best and win the gold medal, so that Nicaragua continues to be recognized worldwide for the ability of its athletes.«.

The closing of the event will take place on Saturday starting at six in the afternoon at the España Sports Center.
