Chicago Bears Defensive Coordinator Resigns Amidst Allegations of Inappropriate Activity

Alan Williams resigned as Chicago Bears defensive coordinator last week in part because of inappropriate activity, reports ESPN Sunday.

Williams was not involved in any criminal activity, according to ESPNbut the Bears’ human resources department was part of the process that resulted in his abrupt resignation Wednesday.

A digital forensic search was conducted as part of Williams’ resignation, but such a process would be part of the team’s standard operating procedure.

Williams had announced that he was taking a step back to take care of his health and his family. Lawyers for the Bears and Williams also said a report about a police raid at the team’s facility was inaccurate.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus will continue to call defensive plays in place of Williams, who missed last Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for personal reasons.
