RB Leipzig won its opening game in the Champions League at Young Boys Bern 3-1 (1-1) on Tuesday and got off to a perfect start. With his first goal in the premier class, ÖFB team player Xaver Schlager led the Germans to an important victory in the first game. Last season’s semi-finalists Milan and Newcastle United drew 0-0 at the start of the premier class. On the first matchday it was a disappointment, especially for the hosts at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. The host dominated the game after losing 5-1 in the city derby against Inter Milan. Milan were the better team and had some very good chances, but couldn’t take advantage of them. Newcastle defended with difficulty and hardly managed to counterattack themselves.
