New initiative of the Panathlon Club International of Latina. The book will be presented on September 27th – at 6pm – in the room dedicated to Enzo De Pasquale, at the Municipality of Latina, in Piazza del Popolo. ‘Bruno Laurenzi, Neptune and Baseball’ co-written by Pio Trippa e Camillo Palma together with the great Neptune and Italian champion, with the presentation of Giampiero Faraone and the preface of Carlo Eufemi.
The idea for the work was born and grew during the many meetings that the authors, together with Laurenzi, conducted in schools and other contexts in which the testimony of love for the game was brought to young and very young audiences.
The book is divided into three parts, the first illustrates the parable of the discipline in Neptune, its birth, development, its influence and importance in the social context of the Tyrrhenian town, the second tells the personal story of Bruno Laurenzi, a reference athlete in city and in the national team, the third attempts an analysis of the difficulties that sport encounters in conquering the new generations, in Nettuno and throughout the country, suggesting some solutions from the authors.
“After sharing this project with Dr. Pio Trippa and the champion Bruno Laurenzi, of Nettuno baseball and the Italian national team of the 70s – he says Camillo Palma – referring to the story of the champion Bruno, we have created a picture of the current situation of baseball in Nettuno, trying to list a series of actions of rebirth and change, given the strong rooting of this sport in the social fabric of the city, applying the marketing logic and management tools.”
The book, created thanks to the contribution of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Nettuno, is distributed free of charge, while copies last, during the presentation meetings, and can be requested via email from Palma himself ([email protected]) indicating your name and address.
“We hope to be able to encourage further growth and development projects for future generations, and, as happened to myself and the champion Bruno, we still remember the happy experiences of our youth with Italian diamonds. Me with Anzio baseball and, as far as Bruno is concerned, on diamonds all over the world.”
From 5pm to 6pm the young Pontinians will be able to get their first practical experiences with the sport of baseball in Piazza del Popolo followed by instructors from the Dolphins Anzio and Latina Bc. The event is part of the European Week of Sport programme.
