Andy Murray: Novak Djokovic’s Dominance Will Continue for Years to Come

Andy Murray is one of those who wanted to comment on Novak Djokovic’s dominance going forward. For the Briton, the Serbian is far above the youngsters on the circuit, making his role as maximum threat extend for several years yet.

The current number 1, Novak Djokovic, continues to demonstrate that despite his 36 years he still maintains spectacular physical shape. With the title of him in the US Open He could only reaffirm that there is still Nole for a while: 3 Grand Slam titles and a final make us dream of surpassing the 24 majors of Margaret Court which it has already equaled. Only Carlos Alcaraz was able to stop him Wimbledonbut the Serbian learns quickly from his defeats and returned it in Cincinnati.

Given Nole’s recent victory, Andy Murray was chatting to BBC Sport about how the Serbian still remains light years ahead of the young people on the circuit who suffer so much to try to defeat him. For Murray, that generational change has not yet come that will keep him from continuing to dominate, even though Alcaraz seems to be the only one with the ability to confront him.

Djokovic vs the rest of the young people on the circuit

“It’s up to the youngsters to put pressure on Novak and try to overtake him, but it doesn’t look like that’s close to happening. Nole has been an incredible player for a long time, like Roger and Rafa, the important thing is the longevity and the time they have been able to do it. Novak’s longevity has been the greatest. He’s played at this level for a long time.”

The best player in the world

“I said that after Wimbledon everyone said it was a changing of the guard, but it wasn’t for me. It was pretty clear that Novak had won two of the first three Slams and came very close in the Wimbledon final. In the US Open final he once again showed that he is the best player in the world and, as I said, it is up to the young people to improve enough to defeat him.”

“Alcaraz is an incredible player, but…”

“I don’t think it will stop at 24 titles, but you never know how long it will last. Physically, the motivation. Alcaraz is an incredible player, he is brilliant, but doing what Novak is doing consistently is different. It is not the same to do it for “15-20 weeks a year like Novak does every time he steps on the court. I think Alcaraz will soon reach that level, but I don’t think it will be the last time Novak wins a Grand Slam.”
