Alexander Zverev had pretty big problems with Pavel Kotov for two sets
In his first appearance since being eliminated by Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open, Zverev had a tough time with the Russian qualifier for two troubles. Ultimately, it was the third game in the deciding set that was decisive: Kotov was unable to convert several game balls, while Zverev managed the first break ever. And didn’t look back.
In the quarterfinals tomorrow, Alexander Zverev will face Miomir Kecmanovic. The Serb had no problems in the 6:2 and 6:4 against Corentin Moutet.
Musetti also has to stretch
Meanwhile, Grigor Dimitrov was able to celebrate an anniversary: The 6:3 and 6:4 against Juan Pablo Varillas meant the Bulgarian’s 400th singles match win on the ATP tour. Dimitrov will play Christopher O’Connell in the quarterfinals.
Number two from Chengdu also had big problems: Lorenzo Musetti had to stretch hard against Australian qualifier Philip Sekulic, but still won 7:6 (5), 6:7 (4) and 6:0. Musetti will face Arthur Rinderknech in the round of the last eight.
