A young man attends his graduation in a pre-Hispanic costume: resisting a 500-year social lag – El Sol de México

With an outfit that refers to the Mexican culture, a young man attended his graduation ceremony in Biochemical Engineering at the Tecnológico Nacional de México.

On TikTok, the video where Holcan Mattero gets up when he hears his name to receive recognition for having completed his career and immediately catches all eyes for the large plume with feathers that he wore on his head, went viral.

With all the clothing, Mattero proceeds to shake hands with the authorities of the educational institution while several people took photos of him.

The young man affirms that dressing like this is a form of “resistance to the social and cultural backwardness of 500 years.”

“You say that you are honoring all of Mexico, you are wrong because you are honoring the whole of America! Thank you brother, hug from Argentina” and “I was very moved to see this… What a pride for Mexico Holcan”, are some of the comments that the young man received .

After going viral, the young man uploaded a video to his Instagram account thanking each of the comments and inviting them to join the community that practices pre-Hispanic dance.

“I want to express my emotion and gratitude to all that community that has joined in this stage of my life, thank you very much,” he said.

On his social networks, Holcan Mattero details that he is a Mexican cultural promoter and actor, previously he was part of the “Our Spirit” campaign for Victoria beer, where he shares credits with actress Yalitza Aparicio.
