“Pride” on the arrival of the national team in Lisbon

After their unprecedented participation in the World Cup in New Zealand and Australia, the women’s national team arrived in Lisbon on Thursday, August 3. The athletes, including the nine Benfica players Rute Costa, Catarina Amado, Ana Seiça, Carole Costa, Sílvia Rebelo, Lúcia Alves, Andreia Norton, Francisca Nazareth and Jéssica Silvareceived the affection of the fans who came to Humberto Delgado Airport. With four points amassed in a group with the United States (two-time world champion), the Netherlands, and Vietnam, Portugal did not go through to the round of 16, but Jéssica Silva highlighted the “pride”: “We are all very happy. I think we have transcended ourselves.” The delegation was also received at the Belem National Palace by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
