After 78 minutes, referee Haris Kresser sent the two teams into the dressing room when the score was 0-0 due to a heavy thunderstorm. After waiting for more than half an hour, he stopped the regional football league game of VfB Stuttgart II at TSV Schott Mainz. The heavy rains never stopped. An alternative date is not fixed yet.
TSV Schott Mainz had their big game last Saturday: In the DFB-Pokal there was a 6-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund in front of 30,312 spectators at the Bruchweg Stadium. On Wednesday, at least 753 visitors came to the district sports facility and wanted to see VfB II’s guest performance. They had to be content with a zero number at a relatively manageable level until the game was abandoned.
Same starting XI
VfB coach Markus Fiedler fielded the same starting eleven as in the 2-1 win against SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz. After a balanced opening phase, VfB keeper Dominik Draband had to quickly thwart two good Mainz chances (20th/21st). It was the hello-wake effect for the U21s. She dominated the game in her best phase and created good chances. Striker Dejan Galjen missed the best after a dream pass from Raul Paula (45th).
After the break, VfB could not maintain its superiority. Promoted Schott worked up a chance before the game was stopped in the 78th minute.
