The Councilor for Sports Emilio Borrega has announced the programming of the Sports Schools for the 2023/2024 academic year.
“These are activities for children and adults that will take place from October 2023 to May 2024. Pre-registration is from September 5 at 10:00 a.m. to September 18 at 11:59 p.m. and can be done in person at the offices of the Municipal Institute of Sports from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or through the web: https://deporte.ayto-caceres.es” communicates the mayor.
The raffle for places will be on September 21 at 10:00 a.m. and the free places will be drawn from September 22.
There are a total of 1,084 places for children, including 15 for integration, and they offer: athletics, chess, badminton, basketball, cycling, dance, fencing, soccer, futsal, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, karate, wrestling-sambo, paddle tennis, skating , tennis, table tennis, archery, trail running, volleyball and psychomotricity and sports initiation. Classes are 1 hour, 2 days a week with a total of 97 groups.
“Regarding activities for adults, this course has 1,340 places, for 1-hour activities, 2 days a week and classes are given in: aerobics, aerostep, gap-total, pilates, zumba, hit, yoga and maintenance gymnastics”, points out Borrega.
Prices are set at 9 euros per month for children and adults. The payment of the fee can be made monthly, bimonthly, quarterly and annually.
There are also bonuses and exemptions. “50% bonuses in the quota for large families, 25% for the second sibling enrolled and 30% for those over 65 who go to maintenance gymnastics. Payment exemptions are for students who prove that both their parents are unemployed (in this case they have 5% of places with direct job reservation) and those over 65 with monthly income that does not exceed 1.5 times the minimum pension ”, clarifies the councilor for sports.
Borrega explained that “it is an extended Municipal School model that we must execute by contract because the previous corporation had already committed it but that we do not like it because there is a lack of disciplines” and specifies: “Swimming is not offered, which is in high demand, Climbing is missing, which is a booming sport and from here they are betting heavily on it; Triathlon is missing, horse riding is missing and they have to be there because the objective of the Municipal Schools is to make sports accessible to everyone regardless of purchasing power”.
From this government team “we are committed to creating a new model of schools in which these types of disciplines are offered, which have been lost and are also in great demand. A model that has the consensus and participation of the main sports groups that we know are not satisfied with how things have been done either”, the councilor concluded.
