Verstappen sets the first target time in Zandvoort

Max Verstappen has continued where he left off with his victory in Belgium after the four-week summer break of Formula 1. The Dutch world champion achieved the first target time of 1:11.852 minutes in the first free practice session for his home race in Zandvoort on Friday.

The championship leader in his Red Bull left Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin behind by 0.278 seconds. The English record world champion Lewis Hamilton finished third behind the Spaniard and 0.373 seconds behind Verstappen’s best time. The Mexican Sergio Perez finished fourth in the second Red Bull car behind Hamilton’s Mercedes.
