Valentine Fortin 5th in the omnium of the Worlds

Valentine Fortin did not manage to win a medal on Wednesday at the omnium of the Glasgow World Championships. The 24-year-old Frenchwoman, vice-world champion in elimination on Sunday, was still third before the fifth and final event, the points race. But the Cofidis rider was finally ejected from the podium, finishing fifth with 117 points. The title went to the American Jennifer Valente (145 points), ahead of the Danish Amalie Dideriksen (136 points) and the Belgian Lotte Kopecky (133 points), already titled during the elimination.

She beat Germany’s Lea Sophie Friedrich in straight sets in the final, while New Zealand’s Ellesse Andrews edged Germany’s Emma Hinze for bronze.

The Colombian Quintero titled on the keirin

At 24, Kevin Quinteiro became world keirin champion for the first time. Bronze medalist last year in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the Colombian won the title ahead of Australian Matthew Richardson and Japanese Shinji Nakano. Dutchmen Harrie Lavreysen and Jeffrey Hoogland finished 4th and 6th respectively.
