BVB just can’t get rid of an expensive slow seller. Now apparently the last remaining interested party has refrained from a transfer.
Dortmund – Before the upcoming 2023/2024 season, Borussia Dortmund has already made quite a difference on the transfer market. Three newcomers face a total of nine departures. BVB even got rid of the million flop Nico Schulz by terminating the contract. With another player without great prospects, however, the Revierklub’s hands are tied.

BVB actually wanted to part with veteran Thomas Meunier this summer. This was also communicated to the player in an open conversation.
The 31-year-old himself was not averse to a change of scenery either. However, he clearly emphasized that a suitable offer had to come in, otherwise he would be willing to complete his last year of contract in Dortmund.

However, the hoped-for offer has not yet materialised. After the recent muscle injury of BVB defender Thomas Meunier, it can no longer be assumed that one will flutter in at all.
The 62-time Belgian national player has to take a compulsory break for weeks and is therefore not available to either Borussia Dortmund or a possible new club. Now the only interested party for Thomas Meunier, his ex-club, FC Brugge, is said to have withdrawn its offer to the player. This is reported by the journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Thomas Meunier is said to earn an annual salary of between 7.5 and 9 million euros at the Westphalian. This budget would have been happily invested in a new right-back. However, this will probably no longer happen for the time being.
