“I think people recognize me more”
In a country that has had its share of champions over the years, including Martina Navratilova, Jana Novotna, Petra Kvitova, Barbora Krejcikova and even more recently Marketa Vondrousova, the accession of a new representative to the final of a Grand Slam could have been welcomed as a harmless event. It has not happened. When she returned home, the native of Olomouc was able to measure the impact of her performance. Overnight, she was in high demand by the media. In the street, more and more people began to recognize her. Today she is famous.
“When I came back, I did a lot of interviews and photo shootsshe acknowledges. That’s how it works. When I wasn’t playing well, I didn’t have all that. I would say that I was a bit more busy, between the interviews and the photo shoots. And then I think people recognize me more. It’s nice, but it doesn’t go to my head and it’s not to the point where the paparazzi follow me around the streets. It doesn’t go that far, it’s done in a nice way.”
If she does not need to dress up to go incognito in public, Muchova is aware of what has changed on the court. She, who until then had the status of a hunter, now wears the hunting sign in the eyes of ambitious young people.
“It’s clear that it’s different. Until now, it was me who had nothing to lose, in a way, she confirms. It’s a different situation, but that’s fine with me. Anyway, I like the changes in life. You have to see it as a new challenge, a new opportunity. It’s different and I like that.”
