The Argentine basketball team returned to the country on Monday, after a three-week tour in Europe, and this Tuesday it will leave for Santiago del Estero, where it will play the continental Olympic Pre-qualifier from Monday 14 to Sunday 20.
The team led by Pablo Prigioni from Cordoba returned from the Czech Republic, where they completed the last two friendly trials of the tour with a victory over the local team by 101 to 87 and a subsequent defeat against Belgium, by 85 to 84.
The players will practice this Tuesday morning at Obras Sanitarias (behind closed doors and without attention to the press) and in the afternoon they will head to Santiago del Estero, where they will continue their preparation.
The team will add new minutes of filming in two friendly tests: on Thursday the 10th against Uruguay and on Saturday the 12th against an Argentine Under 21 team that trained last week in Bahía Blanca and is led by the pairing Martín Villagrán and Federico Fernández.
The players that will be available to DT Prigioni are Facundo Campazzo, Luca Vildoza, Nicolás Brussino, Lucio Redivo, Carlos Delfino, Patricio Garino, Máximo Fjellerup, Juan Francisco Fernández, Francisco Cáffaro, Gonzalo Bressán, Tomás Chapero, Gonzalo Corbalán and Lee Aaliya.
The guard Juan Ignacio Marcos (new signing of Basquet Girona of Spain) will be out due to a hamstring injury in his right leg, while the youthful Santiago Trouet will not be part either because he will soon travel to the United States, to certify his relationship to the University of San Diego.
The Olympic Prequalifier will begin next Monday in Santiago del Estero, the date on which Argentina will debut against Panama, at the Ciudad stadium, starting at 10:10 p.m. Meanwhile, on Wednesday the 16th, the Albiceleste team will face the Bahamas (at 9:10 p.m.) and on Thursday the 17th they will face Cuba (10:10 p.m.), also in zone A, but at the Vicente Rosales stadium, in La Band.
The top two from each group advance to the semifinals. The winner of the Prequalifier will advance to one of the Intercontinental Pre-Olympics, to be played in July 2024, and which has a ticket to Paris as a prize.
