Clashes, caravans of armed men, and blockades took place this Friday morning in the municipalities of Reynosa and Río Bravo, located on the Tamaulipas border.

“The Tamaulipas Public Security and Civil Protection Spokesperson reports that during the early hours of August 11, 2023, various reports were received about clashes between criminal groups between Río Bravo and Reynosa,” warned the Tamaulipas Public Safety and Civil Protection Spokesperson. Caravans of armed men were observed

The authority explained that in the early hours of August 11, various reports were received in the emergency numbers about clashes between criminal groups between Río Bravo and Reynosa.

“Firearm detonations by civilians were recorded, sighting of caravans of vehicles with armed civilians as well as blockades with public transport and strike-outs, which were removed by the authorities,” he said.

“After tours, the seizure of a van with handmade armor was achieved. The security institutions continue with their work in this area,” he added.

Rio Bravo does not rest

Last Tuesday, one person died and another was injured after being hit by stray bullets that occurred in a series of shootouts between armed groups in the municipality of Río Bravo.

“Unfortunately there is a victim who died as a result of a stray bullet and a person injured for the same reason, facts of which the Attorney General’s Office is in charge of the investigations,” the Spokesperson announced in a report.

This authority, in coordination with Civil Protection of Tamaulipas, reported that during the early hours of August 8, various reports were received in the emergency numbers about clashes between criminal groups in the Ejido Palo Blanco, in the municipality of Río Bravo.

“Firearms were detonated by civilians in isolated areas, as well as sightings of caravans of vehicles with armed civilians,” he explained.

Residents of Río Bravo indicated that when the detonations began, electric power was suspended in a large sector of the urban area.
