Strategy and inauguration of the Tulum International Airport are ready – El Sol de México

This Saturday the actions and coordination of works began for the inauguration in due time and form of the Tulum International Airport, next December 1, in which flights and operations of the airlines, Viva Aerobus, Aeroméxico and Mexicana de Aviación have been confirmed.

For the start-up of what will be the fourth international airport in Quintana Roo, the governor, Mara Lezama Espinosa, and part of her cabinet met this morning with the general director of the Grupo Aeroportuario Ferroviario de Servicios Auxiliares y Conexos Olmeca-Maya SA de CV DEM Division General, René Trujillo Miranda, with whom they defined work routes that allow the smooth operation of the new air terminal.

Among the issues that were agreed to work on are airport logistics, highway connection, transport of services and road assistance to guarantee connectivity and passenger mobility, efficient communication, as well as the installation of a Fire Station.

After the meeting, Governor Mara Lezama stressed that the coordinated work will allow the airlines Viva Aerobus, Aeroméxico and Mexicana, which have confirmed flights since day one, to mobilize some 6,400 passengers in the first week of operations.

The head of the Executive expressed his approval for this great work, which he said will bring shared prosperity, social justice, direct and indirect jobs, and will also boost the momentum of the central and southern areas of the state.

General Trujillo Miranda specified that the new facilities have the longest runway in the entire country and an FBO terminal for private flights.

The Tulum International Airport will become the alternate airport of the Cancun International Airport. It will attend the arrivals of visitors to Cancun, Playa del Carmen and other destinations in the Riviera Maya such as Puerto Morelos, Puerto Aventuras and Tulum.

The State Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto, who also participated in said meeting, highlighted that Tulum has 20,000 hotel rooms, in addition to those located in the Riviera Maya.

Present at said meeting were Diego Castañón, the municipal president of Tulum, Diego Castañón, General Javier Diego Campillo, administrator of the Tulum Airport, construction residents and other state cabinet officials who participate in the inaugural strategy of the new airport.
