From Monday 21st to Saturday 26th August Saronno and Legnano will host the softball Champions Cup: on the field to represent our country, the Inox Team Saronno Softball, A1 series formations holder of the Italian title, which has already qualified for the playoffs .

At the continental level for our territory the commitment of the two clubs, with the Legnano of the president Massimo Gioachini, who plays in A2 but who won the Cup in 2008, is a very positive sign of recognition of the organizational skills and logistical potential on the part of the responsible European federal bodies. The Inox Team Saronno wants to be a protagonist in this prestigious tournament and the signing of Ilaria Cacciamani, pitcher of the Italian national team, also proves it. The pitcher born in 1994 who wears the Forlì jacket in the championship joins a pitching platform that already sees players of the caliber of Trzcinski, Handley, Nicolini and Rusconi.

“Cacciamani’s curriculum vitae – explains Massimo Rotondo, president of Inox Team Saronno Softball – speaks for itself and having her available to play in this edition of the Champions Cup is really important in trying to achieve our goals. I am sure that Ilaria will help us enormously in throughout the tournament.”

At the disposal of the New Zealand manager Steven Manson there will also be the American pitcher Lexie Handley, great protagonist of the Nerazzurri treble of the Scudetto-Cup Winners’ Cup-Coppa Italia last season: “I’m happy to be back in Saronno to help the team in such an important competition We will play a very high level of softball, which is why we will have to stay focused every inning.”

The Champions Cup-Premier Cup will see the Inox Team make its debut in Saronno on Monday 21st with two games: at 10.30 against the German side Bonn Capitals and at 20.45 against the Dutch side Tex Town Tigersi. Tuesday 22nd at 8pm match against the French Les Pharaons, while Wednesday 23rd last match of the group against Vienna Wanderers at 8pm. The second phase will be played on Thursday 24th and 25th which will then end on Saturday 26th on the ‘diamond’ of Saronno with the two finals at 4.30 pm for the bronze medal and at 8 pm to assign the title of European champions for 2023. “Even for our club – concludes the president of the Legnano Baseball Softball Club – it is a source of pride to be able to host matches at Peppino Colombo of this level with the wish that our team that reached the A2 series softball playoffs will soon be able to return to the fields of the top category of women’s hit and run”.
