Urawa Reds are back on a winning path
The Urawa Reds opened their 25th J. League matchday with an away clash against Shonan Bellmare, who is fighting for relegation this year. The meeting was dominated by the guests from the beginning. They had their first good opportunity in the 19th minute. The ball played from a free kick by Ken Iwao reached the penalty area and stopped on the rivals’ goal post. Close to reaching her head was Jose Kante, a former striker of Legia Warszawa and Wisła Płock.
Just before the break, the Urawa Reds should have been in the lead, but Takahiro Akimoto did not keep his cool in a one-on-one situation. He got a great, long pass behind the back line, but he hit it from a few meters high above the home goal.
In the second half, the visitors did not stop attacking and finally got a goal by Jose Kante in the 62nd minute of the game. He got a pass on the edge of the penalty area, took the ball, looked at the goal and hit the box itself. He reacted quite quickly, and the defense of the opponents only passively looked at him in this situation.
Urawa Red could have won this match higher, but in the very end Shoya Nakajima spoiled a convenient counter-attack.
Ultimately, the Urawa Red Diamons defeated Shonan Bellmare 1-0. It was the third victory of Skorża’s team in the last seven days, the second in a row in the league and the 12th overall in the whole competition. Urawa is fourth in the J. League standings with 44 points, but will have to wait for results ahead. The top three are occupied by Yokohama Marinos, Vissel Kobe and Nagoya Grampus.
