Russian and Belarusian badminton players will be allowed to participate in individual international competitions again from next year under a neutral flag, the International Badminton Federation BWF announced on Wednesday.

The BWF had banned Russian and Belarusian athletes in March 2022 on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), following the Russian invasion of neighboring Ukraine.
In the spring of this year, the IOC reversed its course and indicated that it wanted to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions as neutral athletes under certain conditions. In addition, the athletes in question are not allowed to express support for Russia in the war in Ukraine.
