The two French women will seek the gold medal of the Budapest World Masters.
French judokas Romane Dicko (+78 kg), 2022 world champion, and Julia Tolofua, 2023 world vice-champion, are competing for the gold medal in the final of the World Masters in Budapest on Sunday.
Romane Dicko, world N.2 and bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, and Julia Tolofua, 4th in the world, compete with the 2024 Olympics in Paris in sight, where only one of the two will represent France in the heavyweight category.
After her disappointment at the Worlds in May in Doha, where she was eliminated from the start, Dicko, 23, impressed on Sunday, winning two of her three fights in less than a minute by ippon. Tolofua, 26, had more difficulties (two fights won on disqualification after penalties from the opponent).
The two Blues have met twice, in the semi-finals in 2022, at the Tel Aviv tournament and at the Tashkent Worlds with, each time, a victory for Dicko.
The World Masters, which brings together the 36 best in each category, is the second most important competition of the year, after the Worlds.
