Instead of hockey players, workers move around the RT TORAX Arena, the stand of the first league Poruba is undergoing extensive reconstruction. On the one hand, the local club is happy for her, but on the other hand, it causes considerable problems.
The construction of 1998 is now undergoing a complete change of the cooling equipment including the engine room, a partial reconstruction of the changing rooms and a lot of other modifications. Fans can look forward to new guardrails that meet IIHF conditions, or new padded seats, and partners to new VIP areas.
The reconstruction was originally planned for the period between seasons, but this did not happen. Due to the unexpected resignation of one of the contractors and other complications caused by leaking valves in the engine room, cooling started almost two months late.

“I am extremely happy that the reconstruction of both halls is taking place, and I am very grateful to the statutory city of Ostrava for freeing up considerable funds for this costly and at the same time necessary reconstruction, we are extremely happy about it,” reports general manager Pavel Hinner on the club’s website.
But all this brings considerable complications…
“We had a big problem with the implementation of the training process for both the first team and especially the youth. It can be assumed that the second hall will open at the turn of September and October, and the main one at the end of November,” explains Hinner.
Poruba has played two preparatory matches on foreign ice rinks and this week it is waiting for the traditional home O Pohár RT TORAX, which this year will be played in the Ostravar Arena in Vítkovice. The remaining matches with Nový Zámky, Zvolen, Slovan Bratislava and Katowice will be played in nearby Kravaří.
And how will it be in the Chance league itself, which starts on Wednesday, September 13? Originally, the club planned to apply for changes to the organization, or at least play some matches in Vítkovice. But in the end, everything is different, RT TORAX will play home matches during the reconstruction in the Buly Arena in Krava.

We have to take into account the losses in entrance fees, the inability to sell permanent tickets, the outflow of advertising partners due to the reduction of the presentation on the multimedia cube, guardrails or the ice surface, commuting and the rental of ice surfaces,” explains the Porubian official.
The club has asked the city for support, but does not yet know whether they will grant it a subsidy or not.
“I believe that the construction companies carrying out the reconstruction of the arena will not be behind schedule with the work, and on the contrary, they will be ahead of schedule, because for us every week is a huge benefit so that we do not have to deal with fatal effects on youth hockey and the club as a whole,” concludes Pavel Hinner .
