Rasta Vechta Falls Short in Friendly Match Against Basquet Girona: Score and Highlights

Rasta Vechta has lost his friendly at Basquet Girona. The promoted team in the first basketball league lost out on Friday evening at the Spanish first division team with 79:85 (41:36). Coach Ty Harrelson’s team played really well up to the 25th minute, after which the engine in particular stuttered on offense. Top scorers at Rasta were Tommy Kuhse (21 points), Xeyrius Williams (16) and Wesley Iwundu (11). They were followed by Ryan Schwieger (9), Joel Aminu (8), Chavares Flanigan, Spencer Reaves (5 each) and Nat Diallo (4). You can read the live ticker here.

The 1st quarter: Girona got off to a better start, Rasta initially had a few problems with ball control. Result: Vechta was consistently behind (3:7, 5:11, 7:16, 13:18). After the first ten minutes it was 24:15 for the hosts, who also provided the top scorer with nine points in Iroegbu.

The 2nd Quarter: Things went much better for Rasta in the second period. The ball was moved much faster and more safely – with the result that there were free threes. Chavares Flanigan (at 18:24), Spencer Reaves (at 23:28), Xeyrius Williams (at 28:30), Tommy Kuhse (at 33:33) and Ryan Schwieger (at 36:33) scored from beyond the 6, 75 m line. Rasta took control – and the lead, at the break the guest was ahead 41:36. Rasta’s three-pointer rate after 20 minutes was outstanding (7/16; 43.8 percent), while the free-throw rate was rather modest (2/6).

The 3rd quarter: Girona equalized relatively quickly at the beginning of the second half to make it 41:41, but Rasta had an answer ready. The ball went well, the throws fell in. At 61:48, Vechta recorded its greatest lead. After that, however, little went together. Rasta conceded a 0:11 series and was only leading 61:59 after three quarters.

The 4th Quarter: Rasta’s problems in attack continued, the guests fell back to 64:69 and 66:73 – in total it was a 5:25 run. At 71:81, the deficit was even double digits. Rasta simply ran out of fuel during the heat battle in Girona. The final gasp with two threes from Xeyrius Williams and Tommy Kuhse came too late.
