Promoted Darmstadt makes a fool of itself in the DFB Cup

Bundesliga promoted SV Darmstadt has made a fool of itself in the German soccer cup. In the first round of the DFB Cup, Hessen, who started with Christoph Klarer, Mathias Honsak and Emir Karic, lost 3-0 to FC Homburg from the Regionalliga Südwest on Monday. The Homburg are the only fourth division team in the second round. On the other hand, TSG Hoffenheim with Florian Grillitsch (up to 76th) made a confident progress after a weak start with a 4-1 win at third division Lübeck.

Markus Mendler (10th), Michael Heilig (49th) and Phil Harres (81st) scored for the Saarlanders in the Homburg Waldstadion. In the 89th minute, Darmstadt’s Filip Stojilkovic failed with a penalty kick on Homburg’s goalkeeper. Darmstadt’s new signing Klarer and Honsak were replaced fifteen minutes before the end, Karic played through.

Cologne prevails after extra time

1. FC Köln only won 3-1 (1-1, 1-0) at second division club VfL Osnabrück after extra time. Benno Schmitz (43′), Sargis Adamyan (93′) and Julian Chabot (96′) scored the FC goals, Charalambos Makridis (73′) made it 1-1 after a missed penalty kick.
