Liverpool FC is gearing up for the new season. Two days before the first game in the Premier League, coach Jürgen Klopp’s club apparently agrees with Moises Caicedo. A record transfer fee would be due for the 21-year-old. If he wants to come too.
Liverpool FC wants to make the record transfer in the English Premier League. Coach Jürgen Klopp’s club have agreed with Brighton and Hove Albion to transfer midfielder Moises Caicedo and want to pay a fee of 110 million pounds (around 127 million euros). “I’ve been told I can confirm that an agreement has been reached with the club,” Klopp said on Friday morning.
That would be the highest amount for entry into England’s top football league. Until recently, Chelsea was considered the most promising candidate for the 21-year-old international from Ecuador. Liverpool and Chelsea meet right at the start of the season on Sunday.

Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister, who played with Caicedo in midfield at Brighton and Hove Albion last season. The Reds paid 42 million euros for the Argentine world champion. Third entry is Dominik Szoboszlai. 70 million euros were transferred to RB Leipzig for the Hungarian offensive player. At the same time, experienced players such as Fabinho and Jordan Henderson were given up during the squad restructuring. Both are now paid their salaries in Saudi Arabia.
The previous record transfer in the club’s history was the signing of defender Virgil van Dijk, who cost around 85 million euros five years ago. The Premier League record for access is the 121 million euros that Chelsea FC paid Benfica a year ago for Enzo Fernández.
Does Klopp get uncomfortable quickly?
Liverpool finished fifth in the table last season and did not qualify for the Champions League. “If the Reds don’t get off to a good start this season, it could quickly become uncomfortable,” predicts expert and ex-Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann. For him, the focus is on whether Klopp can create a spirit of optimism at the club again, as he did after his commitment in 2015.

Either way, Liverpool doesn’t play a role in England’s title race for Hamann. He sees Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as favorites for the championship again. But he thinks two clubs in particular are in a promising position for the surprise: “Chelsea will play a very good role again this year, the same applies to Arsenal. I think the championship goes to London this year. One of the two clubs will knock City off the pedestal.”
