Manchester City reportedly targeting one of the players called by Pep Guardiola as one of the best players in the world.
The best player in the world in question is Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.
Nunes is a Brazilian-born player who has a Portuguese passport. This 24-year-old midfielder has strengthened Sporting Lisbon in 2019-2022 and has now joined Wolves.
Quoted from MirrorGuardiola once praised the midfielder by calling him one of the best players in the world after Man City’s match beat Sporting Lisbon 5-0 in the Champions League in 2022.
“Sporting is a fantastic team. They are the champions of Portugal who have a very strong league. They change football well, they have speed and intelligent players. In my opinion, Matheus Nunes is one of the best players in the world right now,” said Gurdiola.
Nunes made 41 appearances for Wolves last season. This means he is an important player in the current Wolves squad.
However, a tempting offer from Man City might be a consideration for Wolves to release the Portugal national team midfielder. The reason is, Man City currently needs a new midfielder to strengthen the team.
