Complete squad: Exactly two weeks before the planned start of training, the MHP giants Ludwigsburg signed their sixth and last new signing for the time being: Ben Vander Plas (24) is a so-called rookie in the basketball Bundesliga, i.e. a player straight from the club College in the USA, Virginia University.

“In Ben we have found the last player before the start of the pre-season. He comes to us from one of the best programs – and was previously an absolute performer in Ohio. He’s very intelligent, a factor at both ends of the court and has a really, really good throw. His versatility and availability in fourth and fifth positions round him off perfectly for us,” says head coach Josh King about the last transfer, which was equipped with a contract for one year plus an option.

In addition to Buie, Graves, Hammond, Childs and Lewis as well as the two young players Agibata and Pleta, who also have a double license for the ProB team, the list of newcomers is complete. Jeff Roberson is also listed as the seventh foreigner, but he should not be available until the end of the year at the earliest due to a cruciate ligament rupture. In addition, there are the well-known faces around Captain Yorman Polas Bartolo in the German positions, such as Jonathan Bähre, Eddy Edigin, the brothers Jacob and Johannes Patrick, Nico Santana Mojica and Aeneas Jung, which speaks for a certain continuity. Incidentally, it was recently broken again in the coaching area. Dan Ryan, who worked at various US colleges, was hired to replace David Pavlakovich, who left the club with head coach Josh King last season.

During the preparations, the giants have an extensive test match program against sometimes top-class opponents such as champion ratioparm Ulm, but for the most part behind closed doors. An exception is traditionally the official season opener, which is scheduled for September 9th and culminates in the game against the Danish team, the Bakken Bears. The start of the season in the league is on September 29th against Veolia Towers Hamburg.
