Louis Bielle-Biarrey before France-Scotland: “The worst thing that could happen to me is to have regrets”

“Since the beginning of the preparation, we have seen you try a lot of things in the game. What is your state of mind?
I want to show everything I can, at least in training. I want to have zero regrets. I give myself fully. The worst thing that could happen to me is not to try and to have regrets at the end of the preparation. So I give everything and we will see in the end.

You are one of the youngest (20 years old), is it hard to find a place in this universe knowing that you have been requisitioned for this preparation (it was to participate in the Under 20 World Cup, won by The french team) ?
Yes and no. The group is really great, all the guys really put me at ease, whether they’re in the group or those with whom I’m competing for the same positions. It’s really cool to feel good on the field and to be able to do good training.

Was there a small element of frustration at having missed the Under-20 World Cup with your friends?
Already, to begin with, I was really super happy for them. Yes, there was a little heartache over the first two or three days, but I also have the chance to prepare for the World Cup, which may already be the biggest event of my career since it’s in France… Let’s say that I was able to quickly move on to something else. Even if there is a twinge in the heart not to have been able to win this World Cup with them.

“It’s been two, three years for me that everything is going very very quickly”

How do you live this transition between this beautiful season with the UBB and the XV of France, at only 20 years old?
I feel good, I know that everything is going very fast. For the moment, I do not realize too much yet. The group is really great. It’s been two, three years for me that everything has been going very very quickly, I’m a little used to this kind of moment. I try to be as simple as possible and not ask myself too many questions.

Do you have the impression of entering another dimension with this group?
It is sure that when you are part of this list of 42 it necessarily shows that you have never been so close. The day I will have a selection I could say that a level has been crossed.

The first preparation match, Saturday (4 p.m.) against Scotland, are you already thinking about it? Do we want to be there?
Obviously we want to be there, like all the matches of this preparation. I expect the composition Wednesday evening and I hope to be there.

“It’s a pretty special feeling, a lot of pride, the desire to experience a lot of things”

What do we think about when we project ourselves on a possible first selection?
It’s a pretty special feeling, a lot of pride, the desire to experience a lot of things, to be at the game, to enjoy. It’s a lot of excitement too. It’s not done yet, but just thinking about it is weird.

If so, Saturday you could experience a first tenure alongside Emilien Gailleton your friend…
With Emilien, we have been following each other for a while now, we are used to being together. We encourage each other a lot, we help each other on and off the pitch, he pulls me up. It is sure that, if I have the opportunity to experience a first with Emilien, it will be a nice moment.

If you put on this jersey on Saturday, who will you be thinking of?
To my coaches, my friends, my teammates and my family mainly.

In the end, today, the most difficult for you is not so much the field but rather succeeding in communicating?
(laughs) Of course, I’m more comfortable on the pitch than at a press conference, but that’s not so bad. »
