According to a statement from the James family, 18-year-old Bronny “suffered cardiac arrest” while practicing in July 2023. “The medical staff were able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and is no longer in intensive care. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and will update the media as more information becomes available.”
On July 27, 2023, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills issued a notice stating that Bronny was discharged. “Thanks to the prompt and effective response of the USC Athletics medical staff, Bronny James was successfully treated for sudden cardiac arrest,” the press release said. “He arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center fully conscious, neurologically intact and stable. Mr James was promptly attended to by highly qualified staff and released home where he is resting. While his workaround is ongoing, we hope for his continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience and family and community support.”

LeBron and Savannah were high school sweethearts and the couple welcomed their first son, Bronny, 18, in 2004, shortly after LeBron began his NBA career. Bronny clearly has a crush on his dad and is an incredibly talented basketball player himself. He’s currently just a high school star, but it seems incredibly likely that he’ll follow his dad into the NBA as well.
Of course, the only way to improve your basketball skills is if your dad is the GOAT, and LeBron has regularly practiced with his sons to help them become more proficient in the game. Bronny spoke about following in his father’s footsteps in a profile in 2022 sports illustrated. “I was born into it and I feel like the path is already chosen,” he said. “My dad is cool enough to let me go any path I want when I don’t want to pursue basketball. But I think basketball will definitely be my thing.”
Bronny has attracted the attention of recruiters since he was a child, and colleges began trying to offer him scholarships from the age of 11 ESPN. Bryce confirmed his commitment to play for Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California via Twitter on Aug. 11, 2023. “Let’s get it,” that 16 year old posted, wears a uniform. The move comes after it was reported he was playing at Campbell Hall – also the Alma affair Mary Kate And Ashley Olsen – from his previous school, Sierra Canyon, but changed his mind. Bryce will also play in Notre Dame Master P‘s son Mercy Miller.

Savannah gave birth to her and LeBron’s only daughter Zhuri, 8, in 2014, a year after they tied the knot.
