The Zurich “Grasshoppers” represented by the captain of the Latvian football team, Kristers Tober, suffered an away loss in the fourth round match of the Swiss Super League on Saturday. “Sienāži” lost 1:3 (1:1) to “Winterthur”.
Midfielder Tober was in the starting line-up of Zurich’s team and played all 90 minutes on the field. Bradley Fink gave the visitors the lead in the seventh minute, but after that only the hosts scored. In the 18th minute, Mateo di Giusto stood out, in the 60th minute, Aldins Turkeš scored an 11-meter kick, and in the 84th minute, Randy Schneider added a point to the game.
“Grasshoppers” ranks eighth among 12 teams in the tournament table with four points in four games. Since 2020, Tober has represented Gdańsk “Lechia”, which was relegated from the Polish top league this season, and joined the Swiss team only at the beginning of July.
In the past season, “Grasshoppers”, who have become Swiss champions for the 27th time, ranked seventh in the Swiss top league.
Italy
“Parma”, represented by Latvian striker Dario Šita, celebrated their victory in the 1/32 final of the Italian Cup away from home on Saturday. The Parma team defeated “Bari” with 3:0 (2:0).
This was registered for the match, but did not go to the field. Adrian Benedicak, Ange-Joan Bony and Dennis Mann scored for Parma. In the first round, “Parma” was free.
Poland
On Saturday, the midfielder of the Latvian football team, Andrejs Cigaņiks, went on the field in the last minutes of the fourth round of the Polish Ekstraklasa match, as his representative Lodz “Widzew” celebrated the victory. “Widzew” beat Lodz LKS 1:0 (1:0) at home.
Ciganiks entered the field in the sixth minute of the compensation time of the match. Jordi Sanchez scored the goal in the 45th minute. In the third minute of half-time stoppage time, a goal was disallowed for Sanchez due to a fixed back, but in the tenth minute of stoppage time, home defender Luis Silva was shown a red card.
After four matches, “Widzew” is in seventh place with six points. In the previous season, “Rakow” from Czestochowa with Latvian forward Vladislava Gutkovski became the champion, while “Widzew” ranked 12th.
