In particular, world No. 1 Ahn Se-young proved her skills once more by becoming the first Korean player to win a gold medal in the singles event since the World Championships were held in 1977.
In addition, Seo Seung-jae won two gold medals in the mixed doubles and men’s doubles events at the event. ‘King Kong Duo’ Kim So-young and Gong Hee-yong failed to claim the women’s doubles gold medal, but finished the tournament with a valuable bronze medal.
After returning to Korea, Kim Hak-kyun, coach of the national team, said, “To be honest, I couldn’t even think of winning three gold medals in this event.
