The judoka from Bovesano Luigi Barbero received the call-up from the Italian national judo team, for participation in the world championship in judo category CADETS (under 18), which will take place in Zagreb from 23 to 27 August 2023.
Luigi commented: “I’m happy with the call-up and I’ll gladly participate, even if I expected a period of rest. It’s been a very tough year, with two injuries, and many difficulties in reconciling training and recovery. Four months ago I moved to seventh Turinese, as I was fed up with traveling, I’m trying to reconcile the commitments due to study, and the 5 hours of daily training”.
“I don’t expect anything from these world championships – concludes Luigi Barbero -. I’m the youngest. I’m 15 against 17-year-old athletes, and in my weight category -90 is an important gap, calculating that there will be the best in the world for every state. My current preparation is at 50%. I will certainly give everything as always, but my goal is to win everything I can in 2024”.
