Planells explained yesterday that he is “Happy to have achieved a medal in the European Championships”, but qualified that he was not in his best physical condition “after three weeks without running due to discomfort”.
Despite the inconveniences, he takes home having been able to experience this competition in Poland: «In the European there was a high level and I have also met people and traveled places in general. It was a good experience”.
Last year was especially prolific for this young runner from Villa del Río, which earned him recognition as the best athlete of the year in his municipality, and now he continues to compete and devote himself to his passion: «I train six days a week between six and eight hours”, he told this newspaper yesterday. “I always want to move. Next year will be the World Championship in Taipei. I still don’t know what other competitions I could participate in, I don’t have it planned yet», adds Planells.
Now, the runner’s plan for the next two weeks is to rest and stop practicing athletics to, meanwhile, do “any sport like riding a bike or playing tennis.”
