Israeli Judo Delegation Sets Record with Three Medals at 2023 Masters Championship

The results achieved by Inbar Lanir, Peter Paltchik and Kerem Primo are an all-time record for the Israeli judo delegation.

There were 55 countries that participated in the 2023 Masters judo championship in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. The Israeli representatives exceeded expectations, reaching the achievement of winning three medals.

Although judo is one of the sports in which Israel has a very competitive level at the national level, along with rowing and rhythmic gymnastics, no delegation had achieved this number of medals in a tournament of these characteristics before.

The country has already won Olympic medals in judo, but has never achieved gold in an Olympic competition in the sport.

In Budapest, the first Israeli to reach the podium was Kerem Primo, who won the bronze medal in the women’s category up to 52kg. Then world champion Inbar Lanir, a 23-year-old Israeli judoka, won the gold medal in the final against Malonga Madeleine of France. It only took Inbar 58 seconds to dominate her opponent.

Finally, the Israeli Peter Paltchik won the silver medal in the men’s category of up to 100 kilos. The Uzbek Tubrobyev Muzaffarbek took the gold in that competition.
