Gladbach’s U23s Secure First Victory in West Regional League

Finally the first threesome!

Gladbach’s U23s finally won their first game in the West Regional League: they won 4-2 at SV Rödinghausen. On the first four match days, Borussia was still without a win against Düren (1:2), Wuppertaler SV (2:3), Alemannia Aachen (2:2) and the youngsters from Schalke (3:6).

Gladbach coach Eugen Polanski had to do without the injured Michel Lieder, Jamil Najjar, Moustafa Moustafa and Yassir Atty.

The regional league team with goalkeeper Jan Olschowsky and right-back Simon Walde received reinforcements from coach Gerardo Seoane’s Bundesliga squad.

29 minutes: Mika Schroers makes it 2-2 at half-time. The spectators got their money’s worth – four goals in just 13 minutes…

Jung puts the finishing touches!

After the break, Borussia, who could also rely on their professional keeper Olschowsky in the second 45 minutes, won the game!

With his second goal, Schroers made it 2:3 (50th). In the second minute of added time, Ingyom Jung (only came into play in the 70th minute) made it 2:4. And finally the foals could celebrate a victory…

Next Sunday (2 p.m.) Borussia has a small Rhine derby against the youth of 1. FC Köln on the program. The FC-Bubis showed on Saturday how strong they are – and took the first points from the leaders Wuppertaler SV, who had not lost points before, at 2: 2 (after an early 2: 0 lead).

The first win of the season should give Gladbach a powerful tailwind in the emotional derby…
